What is the process for international customers?
For international orders, we offer two options. Here's how it works:
Option 1: Scan-only (no return)
- You post your photos to our UK address.
- We scan them at high resolution.
- We upload your digital files and send you a secure download link.
- We do not return your original physical photos or any physical media.
Option 2: Scan & return to a UK address (recommended)
- You post your photos to our UK address.
- We scan them at high resolution.
- We upload your digital files and send you a secure download link.
- We return your original photos to a UK address of your choice (e.g., a friend or family member).
- If you ordered physical media (USB/DVD/SD), we include it in the return package.
- Your UK contact receives everything.
Please note: We cannot return photos or physical media directly to an international address. If you want your physical items back, you must provide a UK return address.
How do I place my international order?
Visit our order page and enter your return address based on your preference:
- No return (scan-only): Enter your international address. We will not ship anything to this address, it’s for order confirmation only.
- Return to UK address: Enter a UK address (friend or family). We will return your original photos and any physical media (USB/DVD/SD) to this address after scanning.
Important: If you enter a UK address at checkout, we will return your physical items. If you enter an international address, we will assume you have chosen scan-only and will not return anything.
Can I get my scans on a USB, DVD, or SD card?
Yes, but with conditions depending on your return option:
Option 1: scan-only (no return): No, we cannot send physical media internationally.
Option 2: return to UK address: Yes, we include it in the return package to your UK address.
Who pays for customs fees, import duties, and VAT?
You do. As the sender, you are responsible for correctly declaring your package and paying any export fees or customs charges required by your country.
When you send your photos to us in the UK, you are the “exporter” and are responsible for:
- Accurately completing the customs declaration on your shipping label. *
- Paying any export fees or charges your country requires.
- Ensuring your package clears customs correctly.
* Declare the contents accurately (e.g., “photographs” or “printed photos”). We recommend not over-declaring the value as this can increase your customs fees. A nominal value (e.g., the cost of the prints) is usually appropriate.
Important: If we are charged customs fees, handling charges, or VAT because of an incorrect or incomplete customs declaration by you, we reserve the right to pass these costs on to you. We also reserve the right to refuse packages that arrive with outstanding fees owing.
How will I receive my scanned photos?
Once your photos are scanned, we will upload them to a secure cloud folder and send you a download link via email. You can download your high-resolution images directly to your computer or cloud storage.
Download links will expire after 30 days, please download and back up your files promptly.
If you chose option 2 (return to UK address) and ordered physical media, your USB/DVD/SD will be included in the package returned to your UK address.
